Manufacturing and Industrial

Bulgaria, being a traditional spot for the delocalization of production, attracts foreign investments thanks to its political and macroeconomic stability, the easiness of access to the market, the attractive fiscal policy towards companies and low costs of labour (that happens to be well qualified and/or easily trainable), as well as low costs of energy.
All labour-intensive sectors – but also the high-technology ones where technicians, professionals and experts are easily found, is extremely high in Bulgaria (traditionally these have been mathematicians, IT technicians, and engineers) – benefit from this situation mostly for the simplicity of approaching a market that is not huge by size, but it is easily manageable and willing to welcome foreign direct investments.
Italy is very strong in the sector of machinery in general and more specifically construction machines (where its main competitors are Germany, Japan, Great Britain and the USA). Very significant are also the machines for moving the soil, perforation machines and, in particular, machines used in road works.
Furthermore Italy is strongly present in the local market of industrial trucks.
With the development of production and the big distribution, the set-up of new industrial areas, the expansion of the intermodal transport system and logistical centers (such as the project in the Sofia and Plovdiv area as well as Varna and Burgas on the Black Sea) the market opportunities of vehicles for commercial use are predestined to growth.
Particularly promising is the spare parts and accessories, that has witnesses an interrupted growth of imports. Bulgaria is one of the few Countries of south-eastern Europe that doesn’t have a car industry. Since the cars in the country are about three and a half million (of which 95% used) given the still quite low buying-power, the demand for spare parts is significant. Major suppliers of spare parts in the Bulgarian market are Italy and Germany, followed by France and Turkey.
Also important is the Italian textile production carried out in Bulgaria.
